August 2025 Update

Image
Welcome back to the blog, everyone.   First of all, I had recently run across a certain bit of information last week that I thought I should share with you all.   It isn’t much, but what makes it particularly prescient is that it concerns one of the new archetypes coming out in Phantom Revengers that Konami has been mysteriously silent about.   Not too long ago, I shared with you a quick breakdown of the Hecatoncheire archetype from said pack, but we still have yet to learn anything concrete about its two sister archetypes: the Killertunes and the Enneacraft.   All that we’ve basically had to go on for a dog’s age is that the Enneacraft are set to be Flip Effect monsters and the Killertunes will involve Synchro Summoning in some way.   But I have learned, via Yugipedia, that the word “Enneacraft” is apparently written with the kanji characters that read “Sin-Investigating Machine”.   What exactly this means, I don’t know, but...

Doom-Z Awakening and New Artmage Arrival

Moving on to the new Doom-Z archetype (prounuced “doomz”, no idea why they Romanize it like that, other than for the sake of cool)…   Given that they have a Power Patron Main Deck and Extra Deck Monster in their ranks, it seems as though they and the Artmagias are going to be in the next round of backstory/lore-based card archetypes, whose lore and interactions we never get here in the US and we have to dig for online.   (One complaint my MTG-playing brother has with Yu-Gi-Oh is that there’s no clear backstory to the monsters.   But I hear the next Yu-Gi-Oh anime will be focusing solely on that, so I guess we’ll see.)   The Doom-Z archetype is apparently based on clocks and the moons of Jupiter, with each one’s name corresponding to a different moon and going in the order of each one’s discovery by man.   All of the Main Deck monsters are Dragon-Type and Dark Attribute, while all of their Xyz monsters are Machine-Type and Wind Attribute. ...

Put Your Hands Up And Shout!

Hello again, Yu-Gi-Oh fans.   It appears, to tide us over for another month or so until Justice Hunters releases, Konami has favored us by giving us something to whet our appetites for the next Deck Build Pack, “Phantom Revengers”: The Hecatoncheires.   Now, I can read a little Japanese, and I saw something really cool right off the bat.   All of the Main Deck Hecatoncheire monsters have their names written in the Japanese kanji and characters for “Unseen Hand”, and the Extra Deck monsters have their names written in the characters for “Unseen God.”   On top of that, I Search Engined the names for the two Trap Cards “Ipt Al Hecatoncheire” and “Yad Al Hecatoncheire”, and they roughly translate to “Beginning of” and “Hand of”, respectively.   You can’t tell me that’s not cool.   (Unless, of course, you aren’t a language and culture weenie like me.)   Now, as a kid, I read my fair share of Greek mythology, but these guys must have...

Duelist's Advance Introductory Post

Welcome, one and all, to the first-ever posting on the Your Move Yu-Gi-Oh TCG blog!   Now, I have been playing Yu-Gi-Oh more-or-less since it hit our shores at the end of the 90’s, and I am still searching for a Deck that helps me win.   Maybe I am just bad at strategy, maybe there’s something else in play.   But what I want to do here is talk about all the newest and latest stuff in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG and give you my impressions.   I had occasion this past Saturday to stop by a pre-release event at my local game store for the new Duelist’s Advance booster packs.   I figured it was easier to do that than to have to work around the federal holiday coming up on Friday.   (Why they scheduled release day for a federal holiday, I will never know.)   How the tournament actually went was irrelevant, but I did pick up a few interesting cards in my five booster packs.   This set saw the release of new support for @Ignisters, Arch...
