August 2025 Update

Welcome back to the blog, everyone.

First of all, I had recently run across a certain bit of information last week that I thought I should share with you all.

It isn’t much, but what makes it particularly prescient is that it concerns one of the new archetypes coming out in Phantom Revengers that Konami has been mysteriously silent about.

Not too long ago, I shared with you a quick breakdown of the Hecatoncheire archetype from said pack, but we still have yet to learn anything concrete about its two sister archetypes: the Killertunes and the Enneacraft.  All that we’ve basically had to go on for a dog’s age is that the Enneacraft are set to be Flip Effect monsters and the Killertunes will involve Synchro Summoning in some way.

But I have learned, via Yugipedia, that the word “Enneacraft” is apparently written with the kanji characters that read “Sin-Investigating Machine”.  What exactly this means, I don’t know, but, as of the writing of this post, they look to be an archetype of Flip Effect Machine-Type monsters.  Flip Effect monsters generally tend towards lower Levels, and one person’s posting on something like Reddit told me to notice that Atorimaru, currently the only card in the series that we know anything about, has a little diamond over it that sort of resembles the ones on a Pendulum Scale.

Now, a Pendulum Flip archetype does sound unique and wonky and weird, but it feels like an uphill battle.  Not too many people love either Flip Effects or Pendulums on their own.  Plus, Pendulum Summons are always treated as Special Summons, and one can’t Special Summon a monster in face-down Defense Position, only face-up, so they would need some sort of effect to flip themselves face-down.

If so, could we see synergy with the newer Mimighoul and older Subterror archetypes?

And it just now strikes me that since Hecatoncheires involve two Fusion Monsters and the Killertunes will be dealing with Synchro Monsters, could we also possibly see Enneacrafts dealing with Xyz or Link Summoning?

In other news, this past Friday, Aug. 1st was the official North American release date for the Justice Hunters Deck Build Pack.  I was lucky enough to have occasion to go out after work anyway for pizza, and so I managed to synergize and make both trips at once.

Now, I had been excited for this Deck Build Pack, as it contained the very original and unique Yummy archetype and the very cool K-9 archetype.  (Yummy for their unique design and playstyle, K-9 strictly for their aesthetic.)

Dragontails, you can suck it.

After buying my usual three packs, my pulls were as follows:

1x K-9 17 Izuna

1x Dragon Tail Gulamel

1x A Case For K-9

1x K9-LC Release Restraint

1x K9-EW Special Release Experiment

1x Lollipo Yummy Way

1x Yummyusment*Acroquey

1x Yummy Redemption

1x Where Arf Thou?

1x Kinka-Byo

1x Gravity Controller

1x Cross-Sheep

1x Herald of the Arc Light

1x Jack-In-The-Hand

1x Polymerization

1x King of the Swamp

1x Frightfur Patchwork

1x Millennium-Eyes Restrict

1x Number 67 Pair-A-Dice Smasher

And 2x Artifact Durendal

That K-9 17 Izuna was put up for auction on Ebay the very next day, and, currently, she has a bid of $41.  Gulamel and Case for K-9, however, being worthless to me, are going straight in the trade binder.

And isn’t it just like Konami to give us the Yummy Synchro monsters no problem, but render the necessary Main Deck monsters needed to summon them as Ultra Rares and Ultimate Rares?  Thus guaranteeing that those with no restraint will continue to gamble and buy more?

To say nothing of the fact that they didn’t change the name of Yummy, even Yummy Snatchy, so as to avoid the potential for adult naughtiness?  I mean, people use “yummy” to describe hot people and sex acts all the time, and we all know what a “snatch” is.

(If you’re under 18, don’t look it up!)

I’ll try to go into deeper discussion about the Yummy archetype in the near future, but for right now, it seems to be radio silence on any further news regarding Phantom Revengers, Doom of Dimensions or Surge Protocol.

Frowny face…
